Tree Removal and Pruning Permits by City

We will not do any tree work without making sure any necessary permits and municipal approvals have been satisfied first. Every City and Town in our area has some type of tree protection language written into their municipal codes. Permitting requirements for tree removals or tree pruning depend entirely on your address and the location of the tree(s). Some lands always require a permit before a tree removal; like steep slopes, or next to streams, wetlands, native growth protection areas or shorelines. Most routine tree work, in most areas, does not require a permit, but view pruning and removals might need one, and you will need a permit for pruning on private property if you live in Seattle. Cities and towns don’t want to lose trees or have them mutilated while they are working hard to preserve all the environmental benefits that trees offer. Permitting processes and procedures change regularly and information on this page may become outdated. We can help you understand the process, but you need to be informed about the process prior to doing any work or there can be civil penalties.

If you work with us, we will help you navigate through your permitting process. Call, or email, us today to schedule an estimate for tree care.
